Slavery and Colonialism in Historical Context with Causes and Results

Abstract

At differentstages of history, the phenomenon of slavery is sometimes encountered in different geographies and different cultures. This phenomenon, which should be evaluated under the conditions of eachsociety, forexample in Muslim societies they were chosen from places that were seized as spoils of a war and among non-Muslim people. With the ambition to spread and dominate the world geography, which has expanded even more after the geographical discoveries, people need differen tresources and powers in order to meet these needs, and the strong ones who also see themselves as having the right to do what he want sand what he think sover the weaks. Although slavery was an old tradition that has already been for centuries, slaves were generally put upforsale in the Mediterranean slave market. The existing institution of slavery gained great acceleration after the arrival of western societies to Africa. From the 15th century on wards, the African blackman has been particularly suited to fulfill the wishes of the strong ones. It is especially important to emphasize and under line the importance of the transatlantic slave trade, the in humane condition simposed by this system to the slaves and the importance of Africa for this trade. In this study, the phenomenon of slavery, its causes, and especially the reason why Africans were deemed appropriate for this system, the western white race that regards itself as superior, the concept of racism as an extension of colonialism and the exploitative colonial system were reviewed and tried to be discussed.
