Abstract

Sports is a multifaceted human practice that provides the contribution of the individual's mental, parts and social shares beyond just an event that takes place. This structure of physical performance has direct contributions to the characters, self-discipline, empathy and understanding of social solidarity of individuals. At the same time, sports, as a universal language that supports intercultural communication, enables global value sharing. With these multi-contribution features, sports maintain an important function in plant-society components. Sports economics emerges as an interdisciplinary field that questions the basic values, values, intensities and ratios that lie behind this activity. The rules such as which ethical norms sports are based on, how the individual is provided with opportunities for self-realization and how social communication is structured are structured in this field. In this context, Olympism is a universal philosophy of life that states that sports are not only competitive but also ethical, aesthetic and cultural. According to Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the Modern Olympic Movement, Olympism aims to develop the physical, mental and spiritual integrity of the individual through sports and to reach universal values such as perfection, friendship and respect. This understanding encourages a lifestyle based on the principles of peace, justice, solidarity and fair play, defined as the Spirit of Olympism.

This study examines the philosophical foundations of sports and the historical, cultural and ideological development of Olympism; its reflections on individual and social levels are evaluated. It is anticipated that in the future, sports will be positioned more strongly as a tool of transformation within the framework of educational and ethical values based on the Spirit of Olympism.
